Helping a young rider out.

Helping a young rider out.

Hello,

My name is Thomas Jondall, I’m 18 years old and I race for Landis/Trek White Mountain Road Club. I’ve recently been selected to race in Europe with the US Junior National Team. The team will be racing some Kermesses in Belgium and then go to Italy for the Giro della Lunigiana UCI 2.1 and Giro di Basilicata UCI 2.1. It has been an exciting year for me and I’m looking forward to this new challenge. Read more here.

Team WM/Racelab U25

Team WM/Racelab U25

Team WM/Racelab U25 in conjunction with Team WM/Arizona Masters is excited to announce that it will continue to be a force for the 2011 race season. In a joint cooperation, the organization will organize a three pronged racing strategy consisting of Team WM/Arizona Masters, Racelab U25 Development Team, and a new for 2011 mountain bike team. All three components of WM/Racelab will be focusing on competing at a variety of west coast cycling events. This diverse plan of attack will allow Team WM/Racelab to make its presence felt in a wide arena of competitive events.

Logistics for the 2011 season are coming together nicely, and team apparel will be available for purchase end of September. Equipment sponsors have been lined up, inquire for more details. The team is still accepting applications for team members, and motivated racers are encouraged to contact Steve Cullinan (stevec@racelabu23.com) for additional details.

The team was very encouraged by the initial success achieved this past season as it branched out from the traditional model of being a road only team, and hopes to make next season an even bigger success as it attacks the west coast cycling world on all fronts.

West Valley Cycle update – 8/7

West Valley Cycle update – 8/7

Here’s the latest West Valley Cycle update from ride organizer David Herzog:

—————

The start time for Saturday is 6:00am.

Last week’s recap:

Sprints: Correction from previous week, Darien won Verrado. Last Saturday: Ken won 2, Jason won 2, Arrick Neitert won, and Darien won again. The points total for the free training from SkinSport is wide open, and I might add, the winner for August will be based on subjective results. Meaning, there are points for those domestiques who get the sprinters to the line. Let’s have fun with this, but safety first!

Pulling King/Queen: Steve, Shawn, Leo, Jared, George, Tracey, and Jeremy were impressive for the A group, In the B group: Brian, Nick, Rick, Ahmad, Bret, Marty, and Joe kept our tempo above 20mph

Additional Notes: Some great new riders: Angie, Aaron, and John. Last Saturday brought out 40 riders and it rained on us from beginning to end. Even with those conditions, it probably made the top 10 rides of the year. Everyone had a good attitude, we were safe, lots of good laughs, and for us mountain bikers, a little mud is a good thing! The B group did take a new route to Verrado, right on Dean (much better road), which added a couple of miles and made the 2nd stop timing with the A group much better. Lastly, the Sunday ride is in full swing. LifeTime at 6am. 32 miles to Verrado with coffee break. Averaging 10 to 14 riders.

I had three Garmin owners compute average speed for our rides over last few weeks, here are the results for the full ride:

Saturday A group: 22.8 mph, Saturday B group: 19.7 mph, Sunday: 17.5 mph

Race Results: (30 wins for the year) contact Vicki with any race notes you would like to post (vickiyoung3@yahoo.com)

4. San Gabriel: slight incline, before Estrella Market stop. Where Center divider starts. FIRST SAGUARO CACTUS ~50yds before Stop Sign.

5. Verrado: Far end of SECOND BRIDGE. Where the pavement turns BLACK

6. Unofficial top of Rainbow on way back to Estrella Market. No sign, but a hill = reason to sprint

Arizona Masters Racing has merged with Team WM to form “Team WM Arizona Masters Racing”. The team will be comprised of racers who compete locally and nationally in USA Cycling Masters events.
