AZ State Cyclocross Championships – THIS WEEKEND!

This weekend is the last race of the local cyclocross season. It also happens to be the state championships so if you are going to attend a cyclocross race this year this one is a pretty good choice. The venue is Freestone park in Gilbert. Freestone has hosted the state championships 2 times previously and it is a great park for racing. The course will have some long power sections, some woopty dos, and most likely the longest run up of the season. Racing kicks off at 10 with the master men and Women open events. New for 2010 is the addition of both men and women single speed categories! Come out and enjoy a great afternoon in the park and some great racing.

Still need to register? Click here.

A special thanks to everyone at azCROSS.com for keeping us in the loop all season!

A call for prayers of support for Domenic Malvestuto of Domenic’s Cycling

Please consider prayers of support for Domenic and his family in his battle against cancer. Domenic, was born in Italy where he began cycling competitively, eventually turning professional and competing in the World Championships while living in Canada. He came to Arizona to open a bicycle shop, where his passion for cycling continued. He has been the catalyst for many cyclists, many of them reaching the professional ranks. He is currently undergoing treatment and has said that he “has a long climb coming up”. Please support his fight through your prayers or whatever other method you choose. If you elect to post any kind words for him, we will make sure he gets your messages.

Thank you,

Velocity Group

2011 AZ Racing Schedule – *preliminary

Howdy folks,

This time of year, it’s always nice to get a basic sense of what the 2011 Arizona racing calendar is shaping up to look like. Click here to view it. Now, keep in mind, this is just the preliminary schedule. Races may be added, removed, or their dates may be changed. But this can give you a glimpse of what’s coming your way.

Notably absent is La Vuelta de Bisbee – an Arizona racing staple for many many years. Hopefully the race is able to come together for a 2011 edition. A race that’s back on the calendar after being absent for roughly a decade is Another Dam Race. Those that remember Another Dam Race, will remember that by the late 1990′s it had grown in to one of the biggest races in the West with a significant cash purse that attracted many top level riders. It’s good to see Another Dam Race back on the calendar. Hope it is as popular in 2011 as it was in the late 1990′s.

That’s all we got for now. Have a nice day.
