Velocity Group …… serving real estate needs, surpassing expectations.

The Velocity Group is a component of Keller Williams Realty, America’s fastest growing real estate brokerage. Established in 2005, the Velocity Group has quickly made a name for itself with an unparalleled commitment to customer service. Partners of the Velocity Group include cyclist Greg Kilroy and former professional cyclists Austin King and Nathan Mitchell.

Greg Kilroy entered the Arizona cycling community way back in the day… 1988. He’s spent the past 20-plus years deeply entrenched in the cycling world not only as a racer, but a former product rep as well. A new career in real estate saw Greg nominated for the 2004 Phoenix Business Journal’s Residential Real Estate Superstar’s Rookie of the Year Award. Still out on the road riding, Greg is frightened to think of how many times he’s been on Around the Mountain.

Austin King is a former professional cyclist turned Realtor with the Velocity Group. A Valley native and USA Cycling license holder since 1994, Austin’s strolled around a few race courses! Austin turned pro at 19 years old… and then lost his hair. After 5 seasons slugging it out in Europe with the US National Team and 4 seasons racing professionally in the US, Austin hung it all up to pursue a career in real estate and marry his sweetheart Suzanne. Returning to blogging for a second go around, many will remember Austin’s ‘Chronicles From Across the Pond‘.

After winning his first road race back in spring of ’95 he thought “how hard can this be”?  Turns out the next 15 years he was just following wheels hoping to regain the glory days!  Jake did however “make it” and received a professional contract with the AEG-Toshiba cycling team.  Those days have passed and he now guides the younger generations to victory through mindless dribble from his bar stool on the 4th corner of your local criterium.  On a side note those two years that he went and “raced” back east…. yeah he actually had to do some “hard time” repaying his debt to society in a Georgia prison.

Marty Ryerson is the most known man in the history of Arizona cycling’s history. Period. End of story.

Ok, I will elaborate on that… Marty has been riding for years and I mean years. He is also one of the main driving voices behind the RideClean movement. You can find Marty in about any bike shop in the State at any time of the week. If not found in a bike shop, look for him on corner 2 or 3 of that weekend’s crit as he directs the RideClean team. If not found there…. call 911.

Rusty Chain

Rusty Chain was trained from his youth in the ways of Road and American Criterium racing by the master Chris Carmichael.  Well, not directly from Chris Carmichael, but from his 10 disc DVD series.  To honor his mentor out of gratitude and respect, Rusty left Carson City, NV for Phoenix, AZ to participate in the Kumite — an illegal and underground, freestyle, multi-elimination and occasionally deadly full-contact ABRA calendar to which the world’s best cyclists are clandestinely invited each year.  Cyclists prepare for the Kumite with their own training regimens (from climbing trees to bash coconuts to breaking big ice blocks and boards).  Since its inception, Rusty has continuously failed to complete or improve on his Kumite record.  In turn, he has gained countless excuses and illogical justifications for his depressing performances.  Against our will, Rusty’s pathetic ranting will be posted and reviewed.

ron-jensenRon Jensen

Ron started racing at age 11. Yes, 11. He was like 4’2″ and rode a cool Schwinn with the name ‘Chester’ on the top tube. If you remember the days when you used to name your bike, you’re old. If you remember when Schwinn’s were good, you’re even older. Over the years Ron progressed quickly up the cycling ranks and spent 3 years racing top level amateur races in Belgium such as the Espoir Tour of Flanders. It was during these years that he earned the nickname ‘Romalp’ by the French. Other awards and accomplishments include being the lightest person ever to eat the “Complete 72oz. Steak Dinner In Under An Hour” at some steak house in Amarillo, Texas.
