It’s the dog days of summer…
who ever thought that expression up anyways?
Probably someone who was hot (in a literal sense). Like Phoenix hot. Tucson’s hot too.
Anyways – and to prevent unnecessary rambling – this is the time of year where cycling slows down a little bit in Arizona. It’s hot so many ride less or not at all. Racing is minimal too. And before long our content on this site slows down as well. It’s tough to report on Arizona cycling when there isn’t much going on. So, if you have something to report, or would like to publicize an event or gathering, please feel free to let us know and we will happily circulate it here on the website.
Where’s Rusty Chain when you need him?
Anyways, I’m going back to sitting in my pool. Actually, I don’t have a pool so I will sit in my bathtub instead.

I know a few local guys did pretty well at Tulsa Tough…I heard Jelly Belly controlled th pro races, and Matt from Bicycle Ranch took 1st, 2nd and 10th in the cat 3 races. I believe there is full video of all the events on the internet somewhere. Maybe there’s a story in that?
Thanks for the heads up. We’re always looking for stories/news like this to post.
“The Dog Days of Summer”
Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, is known as the “Dog” star and resides in the constellation Canis Major (The Big Dog). Canis Major and Canis Minor are Orion’s hunting dogs. They rise and set opposite the Sun in late summer. Ancient Egyptians associated them with the hottest nastiest part the year. The Dog Days of Summer… Look to the East a couple hours after sunset and check’em out, if city lights don’t wipe them out. And remember the beer…
