Oft times the difference will require a seperate server. if you are using virtual space its usually just an addon space with php admin rights. check out AZfixed.com, or the bicyclehaus ride forum. for an example of a forum run off of the vanilla platform, its an independent free forum that appeals to the programming types as it allows for independent construction of applications and add ons. if you need help with any of the practical applications i would be glad to see if its something i could contribute to.
