I mentioned several posts back the possibility of a Most Aggressive Racer Series in Arizona.

Well, it’s on like Donkey Kong.

But just for the master’s categories. Yes, I know, we aren’t being all-inclusive, but honestly for a completely subjective award that will require attentive race viewing it would be tough to offer to all categories. So… for now the Most Aggressive Racer Series will begin by featuring the masters men’s categories and ran in conjunction with the Arizona Masters Point Series. If all goes well, and the series is appreciated, it will include more categories in the future.

The intentions here are to give credit to the racer out there fighting the good fight – giving it the berries – and making things happen one aggressive move at a time. Now, you don’t need to head butt, pepper spray, or physically harm others to win this award, no, you simply need to race your bike hard and give it your all. The most aggressive rider may not be the race winner, or a podium finisher. Instead he may be the selfless teammate who pulled back 6 breaks, counter attacked 2 of them, rode a lap solo while laughing in the face of challenge, and still led out his teammate for a podium placing. To me, that’s aggressive and worth recognition.

Now, we don’t have a million dollars or a new car to offer those deemed aggressive, but we do have these sweet shirts.

They will be handed out very sparingly over the course of the 2010 season. In fact, if a race is pretty much about as exciting as a Designing Women re-run we’ll save our shirts for a better day with more action. We’ll also be posting a list of race’s that are a part of this series very soon.

I mentioned earlier that this is a subjective award. Our “panel” of judges will include Bryan Staub, Austin King, Greg Kilroy and various guest judges throughout the season. The panel will watch a master’s race or two, discuss, deliberate, and select the most aggressive rider.

To top it off, we’re going to end the season with an overall Most Aggressive Masters Racer of 2010. The winner of this award will receive a trophy. Honest. Like Stanley Cup style trophy.
