West Valley Cycle – 1/9

Just in from West Valley Cycle organizer David Herzog, last weeks update:

Start time for Saturday is 7:30am

Last Week (thanks to Leo and Vicki for update): Last Saturday’s ride saw about 30 people. Steve and Aaron came out from the east side as did Tracey. We were also blessed with an Olympic runner Carlos, making his debut on a road bike. Our own Ken was out for the first time since his crash and it was lots of fun with the old Colavita squad back together. Jason and Ahmad were back from injuries. Chris, Jared, John, Mike Smith, Vicki and new resident Rick, were great additions and made strong contributions.

Ken took Cotton sprint, Shawn took Estella, Shawn took the top of Rainbow hill, Ken took the market sprint and the Colavita team of Shawn, Ken, Ryan and Leo, on a break away from the market to Verrado, took the Verrado hill. Epic in all the wind.

Notes: Need to pay attention at the new lights in Estrella; the market light and the West Star light….. need to stop and wait for the cars. If the group gets split, need to wait for your group. No points for red light break aways, besides it pisses off the drivers.

Course Change: Same route up into Estrella. We will do WestStar first. Then back to Estrella Parkway and out to the end of Estrella Parkway like before. This time, on the way back, turn left on Willis and right on Rainbow. Back to Elliot. Left on San Gabriel and back to the market. This will give us some extra miles and few more hills to work off that holiday cheer. Leo will keep the A group in sync this first time, I will show the B group some key short cuts. We will GPS map it and send out next week.
