Procon Gears Up For AZ’s First Weekend Of Racing.

This was just received from Darik Russell of Procon Cycling. With the 2010 racing season only a few weeks away, it’s a great time to start circulating race information! Send it to info@velocitygroupaz.com and we’ll get it posted.

With the new year just beginning, it’s time to start thinking about racing in Arizona. In years past, Procon races have signaled the official start to the Arizona racing season with the “Usery Pass TT & RR weekend”. With that race on a “MCSO enforcement, indefinite hiatus” we decided to get back to our previous role of kicking off the racing season with some of our new races.

This year, we’ll be kicking off Arizona racing with the Vulture Mine Time Trial in Wickenburg. The course is challenging, fast, and not straight! The pros never race a flat out-and-back time trial (boring…), and we shouldn’t have to either. I can attest that all the corners can be taken while in the aero bars, and the hill doesn’t require you to shift out of the big ring – but it does require you to shift!

With Valley of the Sun SR just around the corner, this is the perfect opportunity to test yourself against the clock in a 20km TT (similar distance to VOS), or to really push yourself and go the entire 40km. To follow the year’s first time trial you’ll get to stretch those legs with some great crit racing! Just like last year, we’ve arranged the fields so that most people will be able to race in their category for at least two races! So this should be a great opportunity to get those early season race legs movin’! Check out all the details at http://proconcyclingaz.com/proconblog/?page_id=224
