Scottsdale, AZ – Velo Vie, a leading manufacturer and consumer-direct marketer of high-end carbon fiber bikes, has announced another win with the use of a Velo Vie bicycle. Steven M. The El Tour de Tucson is an annual race held the Saturday before Thanksgiving in Tucson, Arizona. A much anticipated event, it attracts more than 9,000 cyclists of all ages and skill levels from throughout the United States. Included in the competition are racers ranging from the novice to the professional.

While the competitive air is sure to draw a fair share of riders to any cycling event, the El Tour de Tucson draws out the crowds by playing on the passion for cycling and the drive toward a healthy lifestyle. The race also draws those with a heart for charity as the event last year raised more than $1.39 million dollars for charitable agencies.

Riders participating in the event have the option to cycle 109, 80, 66 or 35 miles. An 8, 4 and ¼ mile fun run is also available for all skill levels. To expand the participation even further, event coordinators offered the Indoor El Tour, allowing participants to pedal stationary bicycles at the main venue or event the comfort of their own gym or home.

Brechner took part in the 66 mile race – one of the four events put on by Perimeter Cycling for the El Tour de Tucson – during the event, riding his Velo Vie 300SE. More than 1,100 cyclists participated in the 66 mile event sponsored by Intuit. As the race came down to a pack sprint, straining toward the finish line, Brechner was able to position his 300SE to pull ahead enough to win.

“This was an exciting event with intense competition, especially in the last sprint towards the finish,” said Brechner. “I was confident that my training would pay off and I knew I was on a powerful machine. When I crossed the finish line in first place, the exhilaration was overwhelming.”

“The Procon team is an exciting one to watch as they continue to perform time and again,” added Dan Barnes, Director of Velo Vie. “Steven definitely made us at Velo Vie proud as he not only demonstrated excellent sportsmanship at this event, but he pushed himself to perform beyond our expectations. We are extremely excited and can’t wait to see what comes next for Steven and the rest of the Procon team.”

Velo Vie works to promote a healthy lifestyle in conjunction with competition through state of the art bicycles that offer exclusive and innovative features unmatched in the industry. The company’s relationship with Life Time Fitness and its corporate sponsorship of competitive race teams helps to emphasize its support of the universal needs of all levels of riders.

Brechner plans to return next year to the El Tour de Tucson to defend his title and is excited about a new year of racing and competition. For the 2010 racing year, he plans to take his new Velo Vie 300R to task in effort to continue to drive excellence in cycling.

What a blatantly biased report….no mention of who won either the 8 or 4 1/2 mile charity ride distances.

Allow me to fill in the blanks:
    8 mile distance: 1st-Chris Mantico 9yrs Tucson*
4 1/2 mile distance: 1st Brooke Harelson 3yrs Oro Valley*

*Unable to determine bike manufacture or obtain quote regarding win.

Congratulations to ALL the winners in this years Tour de Tucson Charity rides!
