Just in from David Herzog, organizer of the West Valley Cycle:
———-
All,
· Last week’s net review: Jared posted his first sprint win (a breakaway up Verrado). 35 riders under a beautiful sky and several new riders like Glenn and Kelly.
· A correction from the previous week. Matt won Cotton, PT won Estrella, and Jim S won Verrado (his first!).
· This Saturday, many of us will be going to the Jim Stenholm ride. Which I hear will even include Ken at a sag #2 station. Details and car pool info below.
· If you need to stay local on Saturday, The West Valley Cycle Saturday ride will start at 6:30am for the last time. We will move to 7:00am the following week.
· Additional highlights:
John Poisson finished his 2nd Kona Ironman and Michelle Thiry is back on the bike and I heard she was seen on South Mountain last week. Yea!
· Good luck to all Soma racers on Sunday. Go Dan V!
Saturday car pool option:
· If you want to car pool to Jim’s event, Scott Reading is departing from his house at 6:45am sharp in the mega van. 12414 W Monte Vista Rd Avondale, AZ 85392. Cell 602-284-6935
· Hope to see you Saturday, the note below from Rebecca sums it up.
Saturday October 24th, 2009
Jim Stenholm loved Saturday mornings. He would leave a note under a steaming cup of coffee that would be waiting for me when I woke up, and then he would slip out the door before dawn with one clear objective – a great ride with friends.
He would have loved The 100. But as much as he would have relished the hours in the saddle, what Jim would have loved most was the camaraderie and the friendly banter. He would have ridden beside you with a grin from ear to ear, laughing as you egg each other on. And when the miles were done, he would come home and show Spencer and Avery that the most important thing in life is to try your very best, never give up and have fun.
So, as you ride this Saturday, I hope you enjoy The 100 the way that Jim would have – with friends by your side and a smile on your face.
Best,
Rebecca
