All,
Last week had 35+ riders. Jason posted two sprint wins, Shaun and Ryan won also.
Highlights and notes:
· Our dear friend Michelle Thiry, recovering from leg surgery, rode her first few miles on a stationary bike. Her dedication to rehab and getting back on the bike is very motivational for all
· Jim Steg. was back with the group after his tumble a few weeks ago
· And speaking of motivational, Jim now teaches the morning spin class at the YMCA. 2 months ago you only saw 2 to 3 participants, last week, he filled the room and people are taking a number to reserve a bike. Way to go!
· Scott Reading climbed to the top of Mount Whitney
· Saw Barry back on the bike after foot surgery
· Bill and Leo continue to recruit great new riders like Steve and Heidi
· Leo had a birthday last Saturday
· The B group established a nice rotating pace line to Verrado. We may not be fast, but we look good
· For the third time, a new rider pointed out to me that Ryan is fast uphill and has no draft value
· What’s also fast is our A group, Amy clocked in a few extra miles for a total of 83 miles with a 22 mph average
· Steve M and I enjoyed hanging on to the A group for the final leg home (Jim, Jason, John, Leo, Shaun, Ryan, Steve and Heidi, which might have been a 26 mph average)
We are sticking with 5:45 start time. Looking forward to seeing all of you.
PS. please take caution on the ride up Cotton, after the first hill, there are some sketchy bumps and rough curbside causing problems
