This was a good old fashion showdown that wasn’t decided till the final day as the peloton stormed through Tombstone. Team GST took the early lead on the steep uphill prologue and held firm through Stage 1 north and west of Bisbee. John Simonson of GST just edged out Kyle Butkiewicz of Bicycle Haus for the win on the final climb up to the finish in Old Bisbee. Stage 2 Time Trial went south from Bisbee into what seemed like a hundred mile an hour crosswind; Joe Susco of Bicycle Haus took top Masters Points. Going into Sunday’s final Stage 3, Team GST had a narrow lead with 63 points over Bicycle Haus with 60 points. Powerhouse Bicycle Haus Racers Joe Susco and Kevin Kirkwood were the two top Masters Points earners on Sunday’s stage 3 moving themselves up in the Final GC to close the deal on the charging Team GST racers.
